A clean sweep of the Canberra teams in the opening round of the comp on the back of a 54-15 win against Gungahlin away from home. We were dominant from the start and with a front row of Karl, Pearson and Siuta it was more a case of how far we push their scrum rather than if (the feed was also irrelevant). A try in the open five for Karl, to thankfully break the nudey run converted by Will put us up 7-0. A win against the feed set Oscar up, converted by Will to put us up 14-0 in as many minutes. Some sloppy and lazy play followed, with Eagles able to get over the line twice to close to 14-10. Choc straightened things up and went over for a try (converted) to put us up 21-10. Tries to Liam and Judd (converted) off the back of uncontested scrums made it 33-10 at the break.
The first twenty minutes of the second half was not pretty from both teams with one try to the Eagles to make it 33-15. Some fresh legs made a difference and we finished with three converted tries to Will, Liam (did a hammy from running too fast) and George – 54 -15. Special mention to Will for finding his range and kicking 7 from 8. Points went to Ethan (3), Michael A-C (2) and Karl/Siuta (1). Enjoy the bye this weekend.
